In Detail: What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a type of treatment focusing on the health and preservation of the musculo-skeletal system. The nervous system, which is made up of the brain, spinal cord and nerves, is the system of control and communication within the body. This means they carry messages that tell us to move, to breathe, to feel and to think. Nerves run to the muscles, organs, heart, lungs, blood vessels, brain, even to our skin.

Based on these facts, dysfunctional segments of the spine can result in the loss of normal mobility creating: stiffness, tension, and pain. If left untreated, it may lead to detrimental effects that will resonate throughout a patient’s (animal or human) entire body impacting on their health and performance. Chiropractic aims to restore and preserve the heath of humans and animals by optimising the nervous- and musculo-skeletal systems.

For animals specifically, after an in-depth review of the patient’s history, details of veterinary or other treatments and looking at the animal’s gait and general mobility, an animal chiropractor will work at restoring function to problems areas of the skeleton using their hands. When the nervous system can efficiently control and sense all the structures within your animal’s body, this enables optimum potential for movement and performance.

We offer non-surgical, drug-free treatments, which is equally suitable for both healthy and athletic animals; as well as injured or sick pets. Both are ideal candidates for chiropractic examination and care.
